Hi, I'm Jessica Best!
I'm a freelance senior video editor who loves finding the story in the footage. Over the past decade, I've edited everything from breaking news to feature documentaries, and I bring the speed of a newsroom and the craft of long-form storytelling to every project. I spent more than five years as Senior Video Editor and Edit Team Leader at Nashville PBS. There I edited the documentary Made in the West for national PBS distribution. I also cut some of Middle Tennessee's most-loved local series, including Tennessee Crossroads, Volunteer Gardener, The Little Things, and Slice of the Community, and shaped documentary work for Aging Matters and Next Door Neighbors. Before that, I spent nearly six years at WKRN News 2, the ABC affiliate in Nashville. Cutting daily primetime newscasts, the weekly show This Week with Bob Mueller, and the Emmy-winning newscast covering the Christmas Day bombing in Nashville. What clients value most is that I don't need a lot of handholding. Hand me the footage and the goal, and I'll build the structure, pacing, and music choices that make a piece land. "Jessica delivers polished edits with minimal creative direction and no hand-holding. Her work consistently goes beyond what I imagined possible." Megan Grisolano, Chief Content Officer, Nashville PBS
